This book takes an in-depth look at Schiele’s background, childhood, and youth up until the founding of the Neukunstgruppe in 1909. It thus paints a vivid picture of the unfolding of his life from his sheltered upbringing in Tulin and his Gymnasium years in Klosterneuburg to his studies at Vienna’s Academy of Fine Arts and his self-confident exit from it.
