More so than in the 1987 and 1998 editions, the orientation is specifically Christian and more overtly theological. The material is relevant to religious, clinical, and academic contexts. Among the areas of concern are Christianity and the social responsibility of health care, care of patients and their suffering, embryonic stem cell research and therapeutic cloning, abortion, and choosing death.
