The books have a little wear on the cover; Penny Candy has a smudge on the outside page edges at the bottom. The pages are in good condition, no writing in Penny Candy. The Guide had two pages written on pencil that was erased; one page had a few words written in ink which was whited out (see those pages pictured above).
